Hello my name is Diane and I think I may be addicted to Photoshop. :) I feel inspired to share something fun with my friends here at Better Photo:

The original photo was taken at a lovely little perennial farm in southern Wisc.

Step1 duplicate, desat, & invert the background. Change blend mode to linear dodge. Open Gaussian Blur and set radius to 2-3. Merge layers. Adjust shadows and midtones to fade out grey. Hide outline layer

Step2 duplicate bkgrnd and use paint daubs(brush sz 7, sharpness 4, wide blurry) plus underpainting(brush sz 4, texture 2 & set to canvas, relief 4, light direction top left.

Step3: Make outline visible and set blend mode to multiply. Create new layer under painted layer. Fill w/white. Set texturizer filter to match underpainting settings. Change blend mode to multiply.

Fun part: Add layer mask to painted layer. Invert mask. Use white brush at different opacities to bring back parts of your own "unfinished illustration"

Too much info.? Feel free to email me if I can help further.

Have a great weekend!
