I like this version too Laura and I particularly like the dreamy framing you have put around it. #8716511

Tammy Espino June 25, 2010

Do you have a priority setting on your camera? (P) You might play with that to bring down the white some, get more details. Otherwise girl you are doing awesome!!! #8716558

Renata Gusciora June 25, 2010

Ha!FAbulous framing,Laura!Like this b&w version very much! #8717070

Awesome black and white image, Laura!!

I spent about 2 hours one night photographing an 'owl'...about a month after that I was walking through a Lowes and saw the same owl-- a molded, plastic owl used to scare away rodents!! :-) #8717332

Nancyj E. Hovey level-classic June 26, 2010

WOW, you are doing wonderful with your new Nikon D90...and I like this in b&w better than the color! 8o) #8717982

Laura E. Swan level-classic June 26, 2010

That's a funny story Robert! So I guess he stayed nice and still for you? AAHAHAHA!

Mumj, maybe I should enter it then??? What do you think? Thanks so much. I shot white flowers yesterday. White is a very tough thing to shoot!!!
#8718064

Sherran Andersen level-classic June 26, 2010

I would enter it now... have done that with some of my photos if I convert it to b&w. Tell me about photographing white flowers lol. I know the feeling... only been lucky a few times ... try shading the flowers from the sun with a piece of paper. #8718935

Isn't it interesting that white umbrella's are so difficult to find!???

Yes, enter it.... won't know until you try! 8o) Like I said on your other photo.... kudos for great photos with a new camera.... your first DSLR.... 8o) #8719343

Okay. It's unanimous! In it goes! :) Thanks guys! And yes. I dont know that I have ever seen a white umbrella either. That IS odd. Humm.

Mary K. Robison June 28, 2010

Ah, Pom, I think this b&w version is just as eye-catching as your color portrait!
In fact, it highlights that beautiful owl's "snowy" white head even better than the original. Great framing that goes really well with the b&w. #8722552

Laura E. Swan level-classic June 28, 2010

I entered it by popular demand! VERY glad you like it too! :)

Thanks very much! People sure love their D40's and D80's, Carolyn. I'm a bit intimidated by the D90 but having come from a Canon flat camera, it's like going from a 4 speed VW to a 13 speed Big Rig! WOW! THE POWER! :)

Thanks Mumj! :D !!! And GOOD MORNING!
