Monument Rock
Uploaded: June 20, 2011 19:40:17
Down the beach from Battle Rock, in Port Orford, Oregon, several sea stacks stand like sentries along the shoreline. These were probably formed by ancient volcanic activity, and exposed after the surrounding sandstone or other softer rock, eventually eroded away. This photo shows the tunneling that has occurred in two of these rocks that are next to each other, one unseen except for a small portion of it visible through the tunnel in the closer rock. And the morning sun is shining through them both.
