Teresa, thanks soo much for that link. I have been wanting to try high key and never knew how. I like what it does for blown out whites. #1247855Dale Hardin March 12, 2010
excellent job on this Ellen. A fine example of the procedure. #8451952Susan M. Reynolds March 12, 2010

Beautiful!! Excellent processing Ellen!! #8452880Peter W. Marks March 13, 2010
And (wo)man's best friend shown to great advantage Ellen. I have never been drawn much to high key images but you Phellos have shown some very nice examples that might now tempt me to go to that link and give it a try if I have a suitable image. #8453019Joan E. Hoffman March 13, 2010
Beautiful work Ellen! I have always loved High Key.... did a blue toned one of Teagan a couple of years ago. But didn't turn out near this well.. But I still love it regardless... I don't have it on my hard drive anymore... but here is a link to Tea at 17 years.... she is 20 nowTeresa H. Hunt March 13, 2010
Debbie, here's the link to the youtube video I used to create my first high key image.Ellen, this is simply beautiful!! You did a wonderful job. #8453650

I agree looks really great Ellen very nice job. really looks good. #8453845Ellen H. Robertson March 14, 2010
Thanks all, and thanks again Teresa. I think this shot really was suited for this treatment and had real beginners luck. I tried this on a shot of my friends child and was not very successful. Takes practice.Joan, love the one on Teagan. The blues work really well. Has an almost Alice in Wonderland feel to it. Beautiful cat, she has done very well for having health issues. I love how vocal and the tone of these cats voices. #8454224

There are many different way to do HK, but this seems to work well. A cute shot to try it on. Is he holding an orange....looks like it, but I bet it's a ball of some sort. I think you should also do HK to images that don't have blown out whites because then you have a HK with great detail and that is a winning combination. Don't just use it to save shots. My only suggestion here is that you cut back on the thickness of your stroke around the image. A 1 pixel stroke would do just fine and would not be so bold as to distract from the main subject. JMHO (Just My Humble Opinion) :~) #8454427Ellen H. Robertson March 14, 2010
Thanks Aimee, welcome back. Missed you!!! #8454498Joan E. Hoffman March 14, 2010
Actually, personally I would not add the stroke at all. I love HK on white backgrounds, almost seems to make them 3D #8454715Debbra Bailey March 14, 2010
Beautiful full frame image Ellen, and wonderful job on the effects :) I agree with the no or lighter stroke! The attention should be on the beautiful dog! #8455554Teresa H. Hunt March 14, 2010
Ellen, I think my first try was beginners luck too. I've tried it a couple more times on different images and it didn't work out very well. I'll definately keep practicing. :) #8455606Michael Kelly March 15, 2010
Beautiful and well done. I like it a lot. I do agree with Aimee on the stroke. #8457798Susan M. Reynolds March 16, 2010
Taking a second look, I'll be the next to agree on the stroke, either very light or none at all. Either way it's a stunning image! #8460432Debbie E. Payne April 18, 2010
Congratulations Ellen! It's an honor to be in this category with you! Actually, I think it is our dogs that are "running against each other"; not us! Good luck! #8543943Dale Hardin April 18, 2010
