WOW... thank you all very much! The Grackles and black birds held a convention here a couple of days ago. Must have been close to 5 or 6 hundred of them. This was just a very small portion of a very small tree. It was taken against a rather insipid early morning greyish sky, and the birds were basically already a silhouette, because of their dark color, so I cropped out this section, applied a sepia filter, then applied a colour filter to the top! easy peasy! LOLBTW, they stayed most of the day, and attracted a large flock of small white egrets to the party... so between these fellows, the kissadees, green jays, orioles and swallows, it was a noisy cacophony for the entire day. These great tailed grackles have a series of strange and wonderful sound effects... go here to hear some of them, then multiply by several hundred birds all in a different stage of the call... its rather mindblowing and headache envokeing ROFL!!
