It's pretty simple. We live out in a small agriculture town where dust seem to settle on everything. We were walking dried mud where cars park (see tire prints). I noticed the dust smoke being made by Hallie's prancing so I kicked a nearby rock to get her dancing around it (she loves to retrieve and you'll notice a rock in front of her left paw). The sunset was beautiful too and illuminated the dust smoke, as this photo was taken around 7:15 pm.
Photo was then converted in RAW while I increased temperature slightly to acheive this effect. It was then resized and sharpened in Photoshop.

Aha! It is a rather convincing effect. I'm glad you explained it before someone contacted the ASPCA. :) It's a great picture of Hallie. She's seems like a very happy dog. #189229Jean Papo September 05, 2003
Really "hot" shot, Tim! Love it! #189240Tim Chong September 05, 2003

I thought I recognized that tail from the dog pendulum winning photo from July. I checked out your gallery and I was right! What a photogenic animal! #189604Roberta Davis September 06, 2003
Another awesome and clever shot.... It's good to see that her fame hasn't gone to her head and she still likes to play in the dirt..... She is a gorgeous dog. #189620Mette Vendelboe Allison October 18, 2003
