Eastern View

Eastern View is a very small township along the surf coast of Southern Victoria. It is located at the start of the Great Ocean Road which runs for several hundred kilometres past some of the most scenic sea scenery in the world. It is comparable if not more dramatic than the Sur Coast in California. The road was built by hand during the depression of the 1920's-30's. Inaccessible by land people lived in camps and all supplies had to come in by ship. Building the road meant removing large sections of mountains plunging steeply down to the sea.
This image was taken from the famous Pole House at Fairhaven a shot of which was posted a few days ago.
Nikon D50 18-200mm VR lens. Lots of post processing to soften the image and create the atmosphere.

I really love this Peter. Love the soft lighting and composition. #665794Peter R. Hammer May 31, 2007
Thanks for the nice comment Susan. I took about 20 shots during the late afternoon so I had a lot of trouble choosing the best one. I liked the soft, misty background but trying to recreate that wasn't easy. #4352096Peter R. Hammer June 01, 2007
